1. A method for surgical correction of defective vision of an eye of a patient, wherein the defective vision comprises astigmatism, the method comprising:
generating a cut in the cornea by irradiating laser radiation into the cornea, wherein the cut circumscribes and isolates a volume of corneal tissue within in the interior of the cornea, which volume has a central area and a periphery, and
making the cut circumscribing and isolating the volume within the cornea, wherein the cut comprises an anterior part and a posterior part which are connected at the periphery of the volume, and
defining the volume such that removal of the volume from the cornea generates a desired change in optical refraction power of the cornea for correction of the astigmatism, wherein the change in optical refraction power differs between the central area and an edge area connecting to the periphery of the volume, wherein a geometry of the posterior part of the cut contributes to the desired change in optical refraction power of the cornea, and
changing a curvature of a front face of the cornea by removing the volume from the cornea.
