1. A method for preparing a preservative composition for wood, the method includes the steps of:
a) mixing lignin and a solution of Na2B4O7 or NaNO3 while stirring;
b) adding, while stirring, a metallic salt containing a M2+ ion, wherein M is an element selected from groups 6, 11, and 12 of the periodic table of elements;
c) filtering the resulting solid, which is a modified lignin; and
d) suspending the modified lignin in water to obtain the preservative composition for wood.
