1. An electronic device, comprising:
one or more interface circuits configured to communicate with a controller of the electronic device in a network and a second electronic device in the network, wherein the electronic device is configured to:
establish a standby network having a selective service set identifier (SSID);
receive, associated with the controller, information specifying neighboring electronic devices of the electronic device, wherein the neighboring electronic devices are within wireless communication range of the electronic device, and the neighboring electronic devices comprise the second electronic device;
when the electronic device is unable to communicate with the controller, select the second electronic device in the neighboring electronic devices, wherein the second electronic device implements a second instance of the standby network having the SSID;
provide a message addressed to the second electronic device;
receive a response to the message associated with the second electronic device; and
providing a transparent bridge with the second electronic device using the standby network, wherein the transparent bridge at least provides communication of management traffic between the electronic device and the controller via the second electronic device.
