14 Claims

1. A method performed by a terminal, the method comprising:

receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising information indicating an uplink data compression (UDC) configuration that the terminal applies;

obtaining data and a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) header in a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer of the terminal, from an upper layer of the terminal;

performing the UDC for the data in the PDCP layer of the terminal based on the information indicating the UDC configuration, wherein the UDC is not performed on the SDAP header;

ciphering a block including a UDC header and the UDC performed data; and

delivering a PDCP packet data unit (PDCP PDU) from the PDCP layer of the terminal to a lower layer of the terminal,

wherein the PDCP PDU includes a PDCP header, the SDAP header, and the ciphered block, and

wherein the information indicating the UDC configuration is configured in case that a header compression is not configured.
