1. A method comprising:
determining, by a hardware processor, an event at a timestamp within content data of a media asset, the event being relevant to a cultural attribute category;
identifying, by the hardware processor, a first geographical region corresponding to a culture of origin of the media asset and a second geographical region corresponding to a culture of destination of the media asset, the first geographical region being where content of the media asset was created, the second geographical region being where the media asset is targeted for release to an audience;
accessing, by the hardware processor, a first weight value of the cultural attribute category associated with the first geographical region;
accessing, by the hardware processor, a second weight value of the cultural attribute category associated with the second geographical region;
using machine learning algorithm to generate, by the hardware processor, a cultural distance score of the event based on the first weight value, the second weight value, and context data of the event;
classifying, by the hardware processor, the content data of the media asset based on a plurality of cultural distance scores corresponding to a plurality of events within the content data of the media asset, the plurality of cultural distance scores including the cultural distance score of the event; and
based on the plurality of cultural distance scores, generating, by the hardware processor, an age rating value for the media asset for a local market associated with the second geographical region.
