1. A method comprising:
receiving, from media player software at a user device, a first request including a media identifier (ID) of a media item comprising at least one multimedia file;
using the media ID to identify a plurality of additional media items, wherein the plurality of additional media items are associated with the media item and a plurality of different playback contexts, and a playback context is associated with at least one perceptual attribute of the media item;
in response to the media ID of the media item and at least one playback context of the plurality of different playback contexts, generating a playlist summary comprising at least one media reference, wherein the at least one media reference is configured to retrieve, from the plurality of additional media items identified using the media ID of the media item, at least one additional media item that corresponds to the at least one playback context;
using the playlist summary to create a downloadable uniform resource locator (URL) comprising the media ID of the media item and the at least one additional media item referenced in the playlist summary; and
sending the downloadable URL to the user device in response to the first request.
