1. A method, comprising:
scanning, using a camera of an electronic device, an object in a physical environment of the electronic device, wherein the object comprises an embedded visual representation of an encoded network identifier, wherein the encoded network identifier comprises characters, wherein the characters of the encoded network identifier are not included in the embedded visual representation, and wherein the object comprises a visual complexity capable of encoding a first number of bits;
extracting, at the electronic device, the encoded network identifier from the embedded visual representation;
decoding, at the electronic device, the encoded network identifier to obtain a network identifier having a domain, wherein the network identifier has a size corresponding to a second number of bits larger than the first number of bits, and wherein the encoded network identifier does not include domain information associated with any domain other than the domain of the network identifier; and
accessing, by the electronic device, a resource corresponding to the network identifier.
