1. A method of disinfecting a chlorine sensor used as part of water conditioning in a medical or a pharmaceutical service, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a starting solution containing chlorine that is provided separately from a measurement solution whose chlorine content the chlorine sensor detects,
the measurement solution being either chlorine-free water, or at least substantially chlorine-free water, provided by a water treatment plant associated with the medical or the pharmaceutical service;
diluting the starting solution containing chlorine to a desired degree; and
supplying the diluted starting solution containing chlorine to the chlorine sensor.
