1. A composite yarn (1) having a core (2) and a sheath (3) comprising staple fibers, said core comprising at least one polymeric core fiber (21), wherein the amount of the polymeric core fibers (21) is at least 35% by weight of the total weight of the composite yarn (1) and said core (2) and said sheath (3) are spun together,
wherein the polymeric core fibers (21) are non-elastomeric and non-texturized fibers
having a linear density of 14 denier or less, wherein
the core fibers comprise at least 12 filaments
said core further comprising at least one elastomeric filament,
the non-elastomeric core fibers and the at least one elastomeric filament being connected together via a co-extrusion step in which they are forced through a restriction, where the non-elastomeric core fibers and the at least one elastomeric filament are pressed together and attach to each other to such a degree that they remain attached together also after exiting the restriction,
wherein at least part of the core fibers comprise a bundle of filaments comprising fully drawn yarns (FDY).
