1. At least partially capped TiO2 nanocrystals comprising TiO2 nanocrystals at least partially capped with at least one capping agent selected from a silane, an alcohol, a carboxylic acid, a thiol, a sulfonate, a phosphonate, a phosphate, and combinations thereof, wherein the TiO2 nanocrystals have an average particle size of about 4 nm to about 50 nm as measured by TEM, wherein the TiO2 nanocrystals have anatase crystalline structure,
wherein the particle size distribution of the at least partially capped TiO2 nanocrystals is characterized by a D9999 of less than 500 nm as measured by volume by DLS when measured as a 5% dispersion in a solvent.
