1. A liquid discharging apparatus comprising:
a head having a nozzle configured to discharge liquid therefrom;
a storing part, the liquid being stored in the storing part while forming a liquid surface, the storing part including a liquid layer including the liquid and a gas layer above the liquid layer, wherein at least a part of the storing part is positioned over the head;
a channel extending from a lower surface of the storing part directly to the head and configured to supply the liquid directly from the liquid layer to the head;
a port configured to communicate the gas layer of the storing part with outside of the storing part; and
a valve unit configured to be switched between a communication state in which the valve unit communicates the gas layer of the storing part with the outside of the storing part and a non-communication state in which the valve unit does not communicate the gas layer of the storing part with the outside of the storing part,
wherein when electric power is supplied to the liquid discharging apparatus, the liquid discharging apparatus is to be in a first state, in which a driving source in the liquid discharging apparatus is configured to be driven in response to an input by a user, or in a second state, in which electric power supply is stopped to the driving source to save power, and
the valve unit is configured to be switched from the non-communication state to the communication state in response to the liquid discharging apparatus receiving an instruction to transition to the second state.
