1. An implantable blood pump system comprising:
a housing having an inlet and an outlet and configured to be implanted at a patient's heart;
a membrane disposed within the housing;
an actuator disposed within the housing; and
a skirt disposed within the housing to at least partially surround the actuator and define a delivery channel between the housing and the skirt, the skirt sized and shaped to extend toward the inlet and to curve toward the outlet,
wherein the actuator is configured to cause the membrane to reciprocate and deform in a wave-like manner during operation such that blood enters the inlet, flows in the delivery channel, is guided by the skirt toward the membrane, and is propelled across the membrane to the outlet.
