1. A method comprising:
determining, based on a first communication path configured for optical communication and switching with linear protection, a fault associated with the first communication path, wherein the first communication path comprises first optical nodes and an end point;
causing, based on the fault, transfer of a connection of the first communication path to a connection of a second communication path, wherein the second communication path comprises second optical nodes and the end point; and
causing, based on the transfer, the end point to transfer a power supply from the first communication path to the second communication path.
