1. A method, comprising:
receiving, via a server, a request to authorize a payment associated with a payment card;
transmitting, via the server, an instruction to an orientation tracking module of the payment card to determine an orientation of the payment card and to transmit a signal corresponding to the determined orientation to the server;
receiving, via the server, the determined orientation of the payment card from the orientation tracking module of the payment card;
executing, via the server, a first authentication protocol when the determined orientation of the payment card corresponds to a first orientation, wherein the first authentication protocol defines a first additional procedure to authorize the payment; and
executing, via the server, a second authentication protocol when the determined orientation of the payment card corresponds to a second orientation, wherein the second authentication protocol defines a second additional procedure to authorize the payment.
