1. A method, comprising:
identifying, at a first computer system, a set of media data;
compressing, at the first computer system, the set of media data to obtain a compressed set of media data from which the set of media data is recoverable via decompression;
creating, at the first computer system and after the set of media data has been compressed to obtain the compressed set of media data from which the set of media data is recoverable via decompression, a cryptographic representation of the compressed set of media data;
transmitting the cryptographic representation of the compressed set of media data from the first computer system to a second computer system that is configured to generate, in an immutable ledger that is remote from the first computer system, one or more entries that correspond to the cryptographic representation; and
refraining, by the first computer system, from transmitting the compressed set of media data to the second computer system.
