1. A method of brightening a person's skin or evening skin tone, the method comprising applying to the person's skin an effective amount of a topical skin composition comprising:
Phyllanthus emblica fruit extract;
ascorbic acid;
tocopherol or tocopherol acetate;
glycerin;
dipotassium glycyrrhizate;
ferulic acid;
sodium hyaluronate;
pentylene glycol;
sorbic acid;
phenoxyethanol; and
ethylhexylglycerin,
wherein topical application of the composition to the person's skin brightens the skin or evens the person's skin tone.
