1. A method for inhibiting biofilm formation or dispersing a biofilm in a subject, wherein the subject has a Salmonella enterica infection, comprising the step of administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound having a structure represented by a formula:
wherein R1 is a structure represented by a formula:
wherein each of R10a, R10b, R10c, R10d, and R10e is independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, and C1-C6 haloalkyl, provided that at least one of R10a, R10b, R10c, R10d, and R10e is not hydrogen; and
n is an integer selected from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12,
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and
a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
