1. An adaptive optics system comprising:
a time sequential color system comprising a red light source, a green light source, and a blue light source operable to emit a sequence of red, green, and blue light spaced over a period of time;
at least one active pixel sensor array operable to detect light and send a signal to a processor, wherein the at least one active pixel sensor array is operable to detect each of the red, green, and blue light, and send a signal to the processor; and
a wavefront correction system comprising at least one wavefront control structure and the processor and operable to:
execute instructions on the processor to produce a digital image in which at least one wavefront distortion in the light detected by the active pixel sensor array is partially or fully corrected.
