1. A client device comprising:
one or more transceivers;
one or more memories; and
one or more processors, communicatively coupled with the one or more transceivers and the one or more memories, wherein the one or more processors are configured to:
access a user account provided by a cloud-based service;
prior to delivery of a medical device to a user associated with the user account, retrieve, via the cloud-based service, first identification information associated with the user account and identifying the medical device, and store the retrieved first identification information in the client device for pairing the medical device and the client device;
receive, from the medical device, second identification information, wherein the second identification information is transmitted independently from data transmitted from the client device; and
based on determining that the second identification information corresponds to the first identification information, establish a secure communication link with the medical device.
