1. A light emitting diode (LED) flat panel lighting device comprising:
an LED flat panel light comprising:
a front cover;
a back cover;
one or more LEDs disposed between the front cover and the back cover; and
a frame having an interior edge in contact with a perimeter of the front cover and a perimeter of the back cover,
wherein a portion of the frame proximate the back cover defines a first diameter and a portion of the frame proximate the front cover defines a second diameter, and
wherein the second diameter is larger than the first diameter so as to form a lip on the frame configured to engage a first side of a surface such that the LED flat panel lighting device is mountable within a hole in the surface.
