1. A method for administering authentication procedures for an artificial reality device, the method comprising:
receiving, from an artificial reality device, user contact information and an identifier of the artificial reality device;
verifying that the user contact information is associated with a user account or creating the user account based on the user contact information;
sending a user-account specific key, to a personal device associated with the user account, that includes an identifier mapped to the user account, wherein the personal device causes the user-account specific key to be activated, in association with the identifier of the artificial reality device, based on the identifier mapped to the user account, wherein:
the personal device causes the user-account specific key to be activated in part by sending a network message to a default network location previously loaded into the personal user device as part of an application associated with the artificial reality device, or
the user-account specific key includes a reference to a network location and the personal device causes the user-account specific key to be activated in part by sending a network message to the network location referenced in the user-account specific key;
in response to the activation, creating an authorization record between the user account and the artificial reality device; and
authenticating a user with the artificial reality device via the authorization record.
