1. A process, comprising:
providing a cyclopropeneimine (CPI) having the following structure:

wherein each R is an organic substituent, and wherein
the starred bond is to a carbon atom; and
reacting the CPI with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form a CPI-CO2 adduct.
