generating, by a camera, a facial image of a person that is to be released from a detention facility;
retrieving, by a barcode worn by the person or a radio frequency identifier (RFID) tag worn by the person, a data identifier that uniquely identifies the person;
retrieving, from an inmate database based on the data identifier of the person, a release date of the person from the detention facility;
processing the facial image of the person in view of facial image data of the person to determine whether the facial image matches the facial image data, the facial image data retrieved based on the data identifier of the person;
when the received facial image and the retrieved facial image data of the person match and the release date of the person is equal to or earlier than a current moment, outputting an indicator of a match and a successful release identity verification indicating that the person is to be released from the detention facility; and
when the received facial image and the retrieved facial image data of the person do not match, outputting an indicator of a failed release identity verification due to a failed match, the failed release identity verification indicating that the person is not to be released from the detention facility.
