1. A control system for a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (“HVAC”) system for at least one room of a structure and comprising a blower that is operable to flow air over an indoor heat exchanger and at least one damper operable to control the flow of air into the at least one room, the control system comprising:
a processor in electronic communication with an input device, a sensor, and the blower of the HVAC system, the processor programmed to:
determine a cooling or heating demand on the HVAC system based on a user-selected input temperature input into the input device and a measured temperature measured by the sensor; and
adjust an air flow rate produced by the blower based on the cooling or heating demand on the HVAC system and a user-selected zoning mode for the control system, wherein the zoning mode selection comprises either a first state or a second state; and
wherein when the zoning mode is selected to be in the second state, the processor is programmed to allow the blower to operate within a second range of air flow rates based on the rated cubic feet per minute (“CFM”) of the blower that is broader than a first range of air flow rates, and
wherein the first range of airflow rates is based on the rated CFM of the blower within which the processor is programmed to allow the blower to operate when the zoning mode is selected to be in the first state, to satisfy low cooling or heating demands when at least one damper is at least partially closed without use of a bypass duct configured to relieve excess static pressure and without a bypass damper.
