1. A method of processing an audio signal, the audio signal having a plurality of audio objects, the method comprising: receiving the plurality of audio objects associated with a spatial metadata; converting the audio signal into a plurality of submixes, wherein each submix corresponds to a subset of the plurality of audio objects of the audio signal, wherein each submix includes rendering constraints regarding locations of the subset of the plurality of audio objects; determining a corresponding submix gain for each submix; and rendering the plurality of submixes based on the rendering constraints, the spatial metadata, and submix gains.
