23. An apparatus for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), comprising:
a processor,
memory coupled with the processor; and
instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
receive, from an access network entity, a new transmission of multicast data, wherein the multicast data is transmitted to a plurality of UEs that includes the UE;
attempt to decode the multicast data from the new transmission;
receive, from the access network entity, a message in downlink control information via a downlink control channel, the message comprising an identifier that is a first group radio network temporary identifier or a retransmission indicator bit indicating that a downlink shared channel comprises a retransmission of the multicast data, wherein the retransmission includes same multicast data as the new transmission, and the message comprises an identifier indicating the retransmission of the multicast data and differentiating the retransmission of the multicast data from the new transmission of the multicast data; and
determine whether to decode the downlink shared channel based at least in part on the message comprising the identifier.
