1. A monitoring system comprising: at least one processor; and at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium coupled to the at least one processor having stored thereon instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
monitoring a plurality of sunrise times for an area that includes a property;
accessing, for at least one of one or more energy consuming devices at the property, a status of the respective energy consuming device;
accessing energy consumption data for at least one of the one or more energy consuming devices at the property;
accessing an energy management profile for the property that defines i) one or more first rules used to analyze data for the property when the property is unoccupied and that identify one or more first operations to perform when the property is unoccupied and ii) one or more second rules used to analyze data for the property when the property is occupied and that identify one or more second operations to perform when the property is occupied, the one or more second rules used when the property is occupied being different from the one or more first rules used when the property is unoccupied;
determining whether or not the property is occupied;
in response to determining that the property is unoccupied, analyzing the energy consumption data and the status of the at least one of the one or more energy consuming devices using the one or more first rules in the energy management profile;
determining a control for a light at the property using the plurality of sunrise times, and a result of the analysis of the status of the at least one of the one or more energy consuming devices, and the energy consumption data for the one or more energy consuming devices at the property; and
performing at least one of the one or more first operations related to managing energy consumption at the property when the property is unoccupied using a result of the analysis of the energy consumption data and the status of the at least one of the one or more energy consuming devices, and the one or more first rules in the energy management profile, the performing comprising automatically controlling, using the control for the light, the light.
