1. An apparatus comprising:
at least one in-coupling diffractive element;
at least first and second intermediate optical elements configured to transmit light from the at least one in-coupling diffractive optical element sequentially in first and second directions that are respectively at an angle relative to one another; and
a first out-coupling diffractive optical element configured to receive and outcouple light from the second intermediate optical element.
