1. A composition, comprising:
a pyrochlore-type CeO2—ZrO2-based complex oxide comprising Y and Mg; and
a catalytically-active component comprising a noble metal element,
wherein, in the pyrochlore-type CeO2—ZrO2-based complex oxide, a mole percentage R2 of a total content of Y and Mg to a total content of Ce, Zr, Y and Mg is 5.5% by mole or more and 20% by mole or less, and a mole ratio R3 of a content of Mg to a content of Y is 0.1 or more and 2.6 or less, and
wherein the composition is a composition for producing an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising the pyrochlore-type CeO2—ZrO2-based complex oxide, and the catalytically-active component supported on the pyrochlore-type CeO2—ZrO2-based complex oxide.
