1. A system for digital data transfer comprising:
a source entity configured to send a plurality of data packets at a plurality of send times separated by transmission time intervals, the data packets related to at least one type of media content; and
a destination entity configured to:
receive the data packets at a plurality of receipt times separated by receipt time intervals;
determine whether at least one receipt time interval between data packets is less than the transmission time interval of corresponding data packets; and
playback media content from the data packets at a dynamically varying playback speed dependent on the receipt time intervals,
wherein, when the receipt time interval between the receipt times of two data packets is less than the transmission time interval between the send times of said data packets, the dynamically varying playback speed for said data packets is dynamically adjusted to be faster than a nominal playback speed.
