1. An optical assembly comprising:
a. a circuit board having an upper surface on which at least one light source is positioned;
b. a first optic formed of a silicone body defining an inner surface and an outer surface of the first optic, wherein the first optic comprises first optical properties and wherein:
i. the first optic is positioned on the upper surface of the circuit board so as to entirely surround and encapsulate the at least one light source such that an air gap is formed between the at least one light source and the inner surface of the first optic; and
ii. the outer surface of the first optic is smooth about substantially an entirety of the outer surface of the first optic; and
c. a second optic formed of a homogenous silicone body defining an inner surface and an outer surface of the second optic, wherein the second optic comprises second optical properties and wherein at least a portion of the inner surface of the second optic is contiguous with the entirety of the outer surface of the first optic so as to entirely encapsulate the first optic.
