1. A content provider system, comprising:
one or more processors; and
a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to cause the content provider system to perform operations comprising:
transmitting, in response to a particular request by a client system, a series of data packets that include respective portions of a web page identified in the particular request;
determining a throughput value for transmitting the respective portions to the client system;
based on the determined throughput value, modifying a particular data packet of the series of data packets to include the throughput value in addition to a particular respective portion of the web page; and
sending the particular data packet to the client system.
