1. A computer-implemented method for optimizing data movement from a source data center to a target data center, comprising:
first determining a rate of growth of the source data center based on growth of datasets comprising metadata grouped together for data objects to be processed in the same manner with respect to data protection and control operations;
second determining how a growth rate of a dataset compares to an accelerated growth curve to categorize the dataset growth in one of a plurality of defined categories;
categorizing the dataset growth into one of four categories including a first category in which the dataset growth in a middle portion of the accelerated growth curve, a second category in which the dataset growth in a beginning portion of the accelerated growth curve, a third category in which the dataset growth in a flat portion of the prior to the beginning portion of the accelerated growth curve, and a fourth category in which the dataset growth in a plateau portion of a peak of the accelerated growth curve;
third determining when and where to move data from the source data center to the target data center based on the category of the dataset growth, and using an intelligent decision process utilizing the categorizing step; and
moving the data, as determined by the first determining step, from the source data center to the target data center through a data protection operation executed by a backup server.
