1. A work machine provided with a machine body including a lower travel structure and an upper swing structure provided swingably relative to the lower travel structure, the work machine comprising:
an operation device that outputs, based on operation by an operator, operation signals for operating the lower travel structure and the upper swing structure;
a sensor that detects an object in surroundings of the machine body;
a safety support device having at least one of a limiting device that limits action of the machine body and an alarm device that gives an alarm to the operator; and
a controller that controls the safety support device based on a detection signal from the sensor, wherein
a detection range of the sensor includes a first detection range defined predetermined based on travel performance of the lower travel structure and a second detection range predetermined at a position on the upper swing structure side of the first detection range and spaced outward from a rear end of the upper swing structure based on swing range of the upper swing structure, and
the controller controls the safety support device based on whether a detection position of the object sensed by the sensor is in either the first detection range or the second detection range.
