1. A contact lens package comprising:
a cavity that houses a contact lens, packaging solution, and an absorbent member, wherein the cavity comprises a main portion having a planar shape, an absorbent-member support that is recessed relative to the main portion and comprises an internal surface having a planar shape and a lens support portion that extends upward from the absorbent-member support beyond the main portion and has a contoured shape and wherein absorbent member is configured for transitioning between an expanded state and a compressed state, and wherein the absorbent member is in the compressed state when the package is in an unopened state.
