1. A closure for a container, the closure centered about a longitudinal axis and comprising:
a top panel;
an annular skirt extending downwardly from a lower surface of the top panel;
an engagement element extending from the annular skirt that attaches the closure to a container;
a circular rim extending downwards from the lower surface of the top panel, the circular rim terminating at a lower end lying along a generally horizontal plane, the circular rim being radially closer to the longitudinal axis than the annular skirt;
a space defined between the lower surface of the top panel, an inner surface of the annular skirt, an outer surface of the circular rim, and the plane on which the lower end of the circular rim terminates;
a first projection extending circumferentially downward from the top panel into the space, the first projection defining an inner surface facing towards the axis and an outer surface facing away from the axis, wherein the inner surface is angled relative to the axis at a first angle between 1 degree and 10 degrees relative to vertical, and the outer surface is angled relative to the axis at a second angle between 1 degree and 10 degrees relative to vertical;
a second projection that comprises at least three distinct attachment points, each of the three distinct attachment points extending from one of the lower surface of the top panel, the inner surface of the annular skirt, and the outer surface of the circular rim; and
a liner located within the space, the liner attached to and supported by the first projection.
