1. A method for operating a waterjet system, the method comprising:
directing a jet toward a workpiece via a cutting head of the waterjet system;
moving a carriage of the waterjet system horizontally relative to the workpiece while directing the jet toward the workpiece, wherein the cutting head is operably connected to the carriage through a kinematic chain of the waterjet system;
operating a first joint of the kinematic chain to rotate the cutting head about a first axis relative to the workpiece while directing the jet toward the workpiece;
operating a second joint of the kinematic chain to rotate the cutting head and the first joint about a second axis relative to the workpiece while directing the jet toward the workpiece;
operating a third joint of the kinematic chain to rotate the cutting head, the first joint, and the second joint about a third axis relative to the workpiece, wherein the first second, and third axes are not parallel to each other; and
operating a fourth joint of the kinematic chain to move the cutting head, the first joint, the second joint, and the third joint vertically relative to the workpiece.
