1. A method for managing a virtual world in cloud-based online gaming, comprising:
generating a first instance of a virtual world for a first player;
transmitting a first video stream of a portion of the first instance of the virtual world to a computing system of the first player;
generating a second instance of the virtual world for a second player, wherein generation of the second instance of the virtual world for the second player is done independently from generation of the first instance of the virtual world for the first player;
transmitting a second video stream of a portion of the second instance of the virtual world to a computing system of the second player, wherein the second video stream includes a ghosted version of at least one feature of the first instance of the virtual world;
receiving a request from the second player to merge the first and second instances of the virtual world;
receiving an approval from the first player to merge the first and second instances of the virtual world;
generating a merged instance of the virtual world that is a combination of the first and second instances of the virtual world;
transmitting a third video stream of a portion of the merged instance of the virtual world to the computing system of the first player in lieu of the first video stream; and
transmitting a fourth video stream of a portion of the merged instance of the virtual world to the computing system of the second player in lieu of the second video stream.
