1. A device for treating an atrioventricular valve, comprising:
a sealing element made from a braided mesh material, wherein the sealing element is dimensioned to be deployed in a native atrioventricular valve of a heart at a position between native atrioventricular valve leaflets to contact the native atrioventricular valve leaflets during ventricular systole to create a seal to prevent regurgitation of blood from the ventricle to the atrium, wherein the sealing element is configured to be controlled by a user to be both radially expanded and radially reduced while at the position between the native atrioventricular valve leaflets; and
an anchoring element adapted for deployment in the heart, the anchoring element coupled to the sealing element and configured to support the sealing element at the desired position between the native atrioventricular valve leaflets, the anchoring element comprising an anchor having an inner anchor member and an outer anchor member, wherein the anchor is configured to secure one of the native atrioventricular leaflets between the inner anchor member and the outer anchor member.
