1. An assembly comprising:
a drape shroud configured to mount a drape to a surgical manipulator system, the drape shroud comprising a body and a plurality of tabs;
the body comprising a first end, a second end, an outer surface extending between the first end and the second end, and an inner surface extending between the first end and the second end;
the inner surface of the body bounding an inner volume sized to permit at least part of a surgical instrument manipulator insertion assembly to be contained within the inner volume;
the body being configured for attachment to the surgical instrument manipulator insertion assembly; and
the plurality of tabs extending from the second end of the body; and
a drape attachment region at an outer surface of the body, the drape attachment region configured to attach a sterile drape to the body,
wherein, in a state of the sterile drape attached at the drape attachment region, the body of the drape shroud protects the drape from catching on the manipulation insertion assembly during movement of the manipulation insertion assembly.
