1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a first network device, a plurality of fine timing measurement (FTM) requests from a second network device over a first channel;
determining, by the first network device, a channel traffic along the first channel;
accessing a lookup table that comprises the channel traffic and a FTM response frequency based on the channel traffic;
selecting the FTM response frequency from the lookup table;
adjusting, by the first network device, the FTM response frequency based on the selecting; and
responding, by the first network device and based on the FTM response frequency, to only a first number of FTM requests out of the plurality of FTM requests and determining not to acknowledge a second number of FTM requests out of the plurality of FTM requests.
