1. A method of controlling a portable device comprising a first camera and a second camera facing in the same direction, the method comprising:
selecting either of the first camera or the second camera as a localization camera to use for providing video input to a localization algorithm executed by the portable device for determining a position and/or orientation of the portable device in a surrounding three-dimensional space;
selecting either the first camera or the second camera as a visualization camera to use for providing video input to a mixed reality (MR) visualization that depends upon the position and/or orientation of the portable device, wherein the localization camera and the visualization camera may or may not be the same camera;
determining respective localization focus scores for the first and second cameras, each localizations focus score indicating a focus quality of the corresponding camera with respect to performance of the localization algorithm; and
changing which camera is selected as the localization camera, based on the respective localization focus scores.
