1. A system for charging a capacitor of a hybrid vehicle, the system comprising:
a capacitor monitoring module configured to monitor a state of charge of the capacitor;
a capacitor charge/discharge module configured to:
determine whether the state of charge of the capacitor is less than a capacitor state of charge threshold, wherein the capacitor state of charge threshold is based on an amount of power that the capacitor supplies to at least one of a starter of the vehicle and a generator of the vehicle during cranking of an engine of the vehicle; and
charge the capacitor using power from at least one of a battery of the vehicle and the generator of the vehicle when the state of charge of the capacitor is less than the capacitor state of charge threshold.
