1. A modified riser joint (6) for subsea managed pressure operations, the modified riser joint (6) comprising:
a main tube (17) having an internal cylindrical surface, a flow control and sealing device (5) attached to the internal surface, and a drill string isolation tool (32) attached to the internal surface at a position separate from and below the flow control and sealing device (5);
a top connection (16) and a bottom connection (15) configured to allow the modified riser joint (6) to fluidly connect in line with one or more riser joints (4) without modification to drilling fluids processing equipment of a surface or subsurface drilling rig, the modified riser joint (6) and the one or more riser joints (4) configured to be connected to form a riser (8), the modified riser joint (6) devoid of any drilling fluids interconnection with surface equipment other than through the riser (8);
a main booster conduit (11) external of the main tube (17) and having first and second booster conduit ends, the first booster conduit end fluidly connected with the top connection (16), and the second booster conduit end fluidly connected to the bottom connection (15);
a choke conduit (34) external of the main tube (17) and having first and second choke conduit ends, the first choke conduit end fluidly connected with the top connection (16), and the second choke conduit end fluidly connected to the bottom connection (15);
a second set of connectors configured to allow the modified riser joint to be operatively and fluidly connected to a subsea pressure-management sub-system alternatively at a surface location or a subsea location.
