1. A method for coating a substrate to enhance the tribological and mechanical performance of a coating, comprising coating a surface of the substrate with a phase change material composition,
wherein the phase change material composition comprises a combination of a phase change material and a polymeric material,
wherein the polymeric material is a combination of an aromatic thermosetting copolyester and one or more of a polyetherketone, a polytetrafluoroethylene, a polyimide, or mixtures thereof, and
wherein the polymeric material composition comprises from about 2 to about 5 percent by weight phase change material, or
wherein the polymeric material composition comprises from about 5 to about 10 percent by weight phase change material.
