1. A system, comprising:
at least one processor; and
a memory comprising executable instructions that, in response to execution by the at least one processor, cause the system to at least:
identify a characteristic of a physical object placed on a physical surface;
obtain a rule set and game state, the rule set obtained based at least in part on an association between the characteristic and the rule set;
initialize a game engine, based at least in part on the rule set and the game state; and
render augmented reality gameplay incorporating the physical surface, based at least in part on output of the game engine and providing a first augmented view of the physical surface and the physical object, wherein the augmented reality gameplay is adapted by the game engine to adjust at least one of game complexity or game rules based, at least in part, on a gameplay adaptation associated with a first player, wherein a second player is provided a second augmented view of the physical surface and the physical object, the first and second augmented views of the physical surface and the physical object being different based at least in part on the gameplay adaptation.
