1. A method for a wireless communication network, comprising:
at a wireless interface of a base station:
obtaining a reference signal waveform which is defined in accordance with a modulation scheme,
shaping the reference signal waveform by calculation, to obtain at least one signal waveform associated with one or more subcarriers of a plurality of subcarriers,
in response to said shaping: inputting the at least one signal waveform to at least one corresponding channel of a multi-channel orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) modulator, and
transmitting an OFDM symbol output by the OFDM modulator,
wherein said shaping approximates a baseband representation of a part of the OFDM symbol associated with the one or more subcarriers to the reference signal waveform.
