1. A light emitting device comprising:
a base having a bottom part;
a first semiconductor laser element disposed on the bottom part of the base;
a second semiconductor laser element disposed on the bottom part of the base, the second semiconductor laser element having a different polarization direction from a polarization direction of the first semiconductor laser element;
a lens member into which light beams from the first semiconductor element and the second semiconductor laser element enter, the lens member having a lower surface joined with the base and a lens surface, the lens surface being positioned so as not to protrude toward the bottom part of the base beyond the lower surface; and
a waveplate configured to change the polarization direction of light from the first semiconductor laser element, wherein
the base has a frame part forming a lateral surface surrounding the first semiconductor laser element and the second semiconductor laser element,
the base supports the lens member and the waveplate,
the lens member has a first lens part, a second lens part and a non-lens part, each of the first lens part and the second lens part having a lens shape and respectively corresponding to the first semiconductor laser element and the second semiconductor laser element,
the non-lens part defines a recess, and the first lens part and the second lens part are disposed in the recess of the non-lens part, and
a lower surface of the waveplate is positioned on a surface of the lens member on a side where the recess is defined.
