13. A control method for a storage system including: a storage drive having a storage medium storing a data; and a plurality of storage control units, each having a processor, a memory, and a port to process the data input and output to and from the storage drive, the control method comprising:
storing information on (i) a list of the storage control units mounted on the storage system and (ii) a maximum number of the storage control units that can be mounted on the storage system; and
wherein, in response to selecting a first storage control unit, of the mounted storage control units, as replacement, migrating, directly or via another storage control unit of the mounted storage control units, configuration information to a second storage control unit, to be added, from the first storage control unit, wherein the migrating is based on (ii) a number of the mounted storage control units, and (ii) the maximum number of storage control units that can be mounted.
