1. A state machine engine comprising:
a bus interface configured to receive data to be analyzed; and
a data buffer system configured to receive the data to be analyzed from the bus interface and to provide the data to be analyzed to a state machine lattice;
wherein the bus interface is configured to provide the data to be analyzed to the data buffer system until the data buffer system is full and, after the data buffer system is full, the bus interface is configured to be used for other purposes.
